Song: A Nightmare to Remember (Nick Edit)
Remix By: Nicholas R. Andreas
What I Did: Up until the main instrumental section you will see very little change, in fact the only thing done up to that point is two things done throughout the entire song. For one the bass is given a very slight bump up, and the drums are EQ’d to bring the high end out a little bit more over the bass drum. The instrumental section has been stripped of the solos, shortened, and for what is now the first bit of it the keyboards were given a big bump up in order to make up for lack of solos. At the end of MP’s verses the end growl has been removed. Finally the song is ended not long after the final verse, and this version of the song totals only 12:26. For those who want to see the big edits quickly, start at the 8:00 mark. I apologize if the cut in the middle or ending is a bit choppy, the song was not meant to have either of those edits and so I did the best I could to make it sound natural.

Song: The Count of Tuscany (Rudess Remix)
Remix by: Animalize3
Brief description of what I did: I didn't realize how fantastic JR's parts were until I started playing with these stems... So I re-did the intro and made a new outro, bringing JR to the forefront. I made two versions; a longer version that has all the instrumental and heavy stuff intact, and a shorter, mellower version, leaving out a majority of the song's body. A few things I noticed: there's a bit of equipment buzz on JR's stem, which you can hear in the first 30 seconds or so. THere's also some feedback on Myung's stem. Oh well, it's interesting to hear things that are otherwise buried on the official mix.
Short Version - 06:27
Long Version - 16:24
Song: Wither.
Variations: Keys and Vocals.
The Deets:
I certainly wasn't the first with this idea, but here it is. Like the title says, it's just vocals and keys.
I wanted the vocals to be the focal point (of course), but you can tell it wasn't meant to be heard this way. For example, James would probably sing a lot of the lines softer because he's not competing with the entire band. Still, it sounds quite amazing. Tech wise, the only thing I had to alter aside from my preferential volume levels, was turn down the keys midway through the song, as Jordan really starts to push it. Unfortunately the outtro (keyboard wise) sounds a little cheesy on its own. Ah well, still great. Enjoy.
