A few nights ago I was hangin at this local bar.
It smelled like booze and cigarettes but there was a vibe.
I noticed a dusty piece of furniture with cobwebs covering it in the corner
of the room. Upon walking over to it, it turns out that it was an old piano.
SInce I had a few shots I was feeling pretty loose and decided to give it a whirl.
It moaned- it creaked, it rattled and rolled. Pretty cool sound.
All in the bar enjoyed it and then continued drinking and smoking into oblivion...

If you believe that I will tell you another!!
Actually this piece was done here in the comfort of my smoke free studio in NY using the latest upright piano library from Synthogy for their piano soft synth entitled Ivory....
It's a great library and the inspiration was immediate.

An Improvised Sonic Exploration featuring Richard Lainhart and Jordan Rudess

Join us as RandoRadio broadcasts live from Richard's home studio. Treavor Hastings and Gus Mason will host the program, called Deep Space. It will feature live improvisational excursions using cutting-edge synthesizers and keyboards along with old-school Moogs and various insane gadgetry.

Richard will feature his Buchla 200e [boo-kla] and Jordan will be performing on his various Moog [moe-g] synthesizers and keyboards.

RandoRadio will provide both video and audio streams for this event so that you get the best of both worlds.

Jordan Rudess entered the prestigious Juilliard School of Music for classical piano training at the age of nine. By nineteen, he began to include the rapidly developing world of synthesizers in his recordings and performances. Today, Jordan is a recording artist, composer, producer and performer. He is currently in the studio and on tour with the Progressive Rock band, Dream Theater.

Richard Lainhart is an award-winning composer, author, and filmmaker. He studied composition and electronic music with Joel Chadabe at the State University of New York at Albany, and has worked and performed with John Cage, David Tudor, Steve Reich, Phill Niblock, David Berhman, and Jordan Rudess, among many others.
